If you have associated a Google account with your Android smartphone (this usually happens during the initial configuration of the device), you should already have the synchronization of the contacts with the iPhone cloud activated. To check this setting, access the Android Settings (the gear icon found on the Home screen or in the apps menu) and press on the item relating to Accounts; then select the Google item, choose your Google account from the next screen and make sure that the lever relating to contacts is active (otherwise activate it yourself and wait a few minutes for the synchronization to be carried out).
If you have a Xiaomi smartphone, open the Settings, go to Additional settings and select Accounts and synchronization. From the Accounts section, tap on Google and make sure that there is a check mark inside the circle corresponding to the item Contacts. If it is not there, press on it to add it. Then wait for the automatic synchronization to end or tap on the rotating arrows icon to activate manual synchronization.
If you have not yet associated a Google account with your Android smartphone, go to the settings menu dedicated to accounts, press on the item to add a new account, select the Google logo from the screen that appears, enter your Google account credentials in the login form and, finally, make sure that the contacts synchronization is active as explained above. On Xiaomi, from the Accounts and synchronization screen, press on Add account, select Google, enter the requested credentials and wait for the synchronization to finish.
Once you have synchronized your Android contacts with the Google Contacts service, you need to associate your iPhone with the same service. So, take your iPhone, access the Settings menu (the gear icon found on the Home screen), press on Apps and search for the Contacts app from the proposed list or using the search field at the top.
Then, select Contacts Account, press on Add account (found in Settings > Mail or Settings > Contacts from iOS 14 to iOS 17) and press on Google. Authorize the opening of the login form and log in to your Google account in the screen that opens. Finally, activate the lever relating to contact synchronization, press the Save button (top right) and that's it.
If you are not interested in syncing contacts between Android and iPhone but simply want to move contacts from Android to iOS, you can export a VCF file with Android contacts, send it to yourself via email, WhatsApp or other sharing systems on your iPhone and, finally, import it into your iPhone contacts. I assure you that it is child's play!
First of all, if you don't already have it, I recommend getting the free Google Contacts application from the Play Store or, in case you are using a smartphone without Google services (e.g. a Huawei device with AppGallery), from alternative stores. In both cases, all you have to do is open your phone's store, search for Google Contacts in the latter and first press the application icon in the search results and then the Install button.
Once installation is complete, all you have to do is launch the Google Contacts app, tap on Organize at the bottom right and, from the This device section, press Export to a file. Select the Google account from Choose an account to export and press the Export button at the bottom right. Once this is done, select the folder in which to save the VCF file via the file manager, customize the name if necessary via the field at the bottom and conclude by pressing the SAVE button at the bottom right.
After waiting for all the numbers to finish exporting, open the default file manager on your Android smartphone (e.g. Files by Google), open the folder in which you saved the contacts file, press the three dots next to it and select Share from the menu that appears. All you have to do is select the application to use for sending (e.g. WhatsApp, Telegram or Gmail).
The last step you have to take is the one relating to importing the VCF file with the contacts on the iPhone. So, take your iPhone, open the Mail client (if you sent yourself the VCF file via email), WhatsApp or any other app you have decided to use and open the message (or folder) containing the file with the contacts.
Finally, tap on the contacts.vcf file icon, tap on the Add all [number] contacts item and that's it: all the contacts in the selected file will be added to the iOS contacts.
The operation, as mentioned, does not involve any synchronization with the Android contacts, nor with the Google contacts. This means that to bring any changes to the contacts made on Android or on the Google address book back to the iPhone, you will have to repeat the entire procedure.
Then, to set the Google contacts as the default of your iPhone, and ensure that all new contacts created on the smartphone are saved on it, go to the Settings > Apps > Contacts menu of iOS and set the default account to Gmail.
If you have already associated a Google account with your iPhone but you do not know if contact synchronization is active, go to the Settings > Apps > Contacts menu (present in Settings > Mail or Settings > Contacts from iOS 14 to iOS 17), select the item relating to Gmail and check if the lever relating to Contacts is active (otherwise activate it yourself).
Very good: now the Android and iPhone contacts are synchronized. Know, however, that the contacts you previously had on the Apple smartphone will not be loaded into Google Contacts.
