How to Enable Developer Mode on iOS

Before I explain in detail how to enable developer options on your iPhone, let me briefly explain some preliminary information and the potential of this operation and the precautions you should use in proceeding and enabling them.

Developer mode is a setting that allows the user to access advanced tools and features that, by default, are not available to users in standard mode. It is a mode generally intended for app developers or more advanced users who need more options to control their device, both in terms of applications and the entire system.

In short, I recommend you use this mode only if you have some technical knowledge and are well aware of the potential risks you are facing. Obviously, I do not assume any responsibility in this regard.

If your iPhone is running a public version of iOS (which is almost all cases) and you haven’t loaded any apps in development onto it yet, the Developer Mode option in the Privacy & Security menu won’t be available. In fact, Apple has removed the Developer Mode option from the menu to avoid compromising the security of your device.

However, it is possible to show the Developer Mode option, and then activate it later, via Xcode, Apple's official application for developing iOS applications.

Once you have installed and launched Xcode on your Mac, connect your iPhone to your computer using the supplied Lightning cable and, in the main screen of the program, click on the drop-down menu at the top of the toolbar and select your iPhone from the items located under the Unavailable device list. You will notice that although your device is connected, developer mode is always disabled (Developer Mode disabled).

Once you have selected your iPhone, click on the Run button (the black triangle icon) to run your code on your phone. At this point, a warning will appear on the screen asking you to activate developer mode on the device. Then, press Ok on the warning, pick up your iPhone, go to Settings > Privacy and security and here the Developer Mode item will appear, which can be activated via the appropriate switch button.
